In addition to the above referenced teams, 4th Grade Recreation League All-Star Teams for both Girls and Boys will be selected in early January for participation in post-season tournament play.  The number of All-Star Teams to be selected for each gender will be determined at the tryouts by the Director of Travel Basketball with the DYA Athletic Director’s assistance.  They will make this determination based upon a number of varying factors, s… some of those factors being the quantity of the players trying out, the quality of the skill level of the players trying out, their ability to compete at the All-Star level, and the number of coaching candidates available.

5.                  Player Selections for Travel Teams -  -  Open Ttryouts for both genders in each grade will be conducted in the fall, just prior to the beginning of each new basketball season.  Tryouts will be open to any and all players registered to play in the DYA Recreation Leagues.

If two teams are being selected for a specific gender and grade, the top ten (10) evaluated players should be placed on the “A” Team and the next ten (10) highest rated players will be placed on the “B” Team.

If only one (1) team is to be chosen for a specific gender and grade, the top ten (10) players should be identified at the tryouts by the evaluation / selection committee and placed on that team.

Two (2) alternate players for each gender in each grade will be ranked and identified by the evaluation / selection committee.  In the event that one of the players selected to be on a team chooses either not to participante or becomes injured sometime during the season and if the Head Coach wishes to replace themhim/her, then the next highest ranked player will be offered a position on that team.  However, the Recreation League player being invited to fill an open position on a Travel Team must first fulfill their obligation to practice and play with their Recreation League Team whenever a conflict arises.
