Fall Baseball Program

The fall baseball program is for students in the 3rd through 9th grades.  The program has four leagues as follows:

Rookie League:  This league is for players in third grade only.  If there are not enough coaches among the parents of third graders, the league will consider accepting second grade players whose parents are willing to serve as head coaches.  Otherwise, second graders are not eligible.

Minor League:  This league is for players in 4th and 5th grades only.  If there are not enough coaches among the parents of 4th and 5th graders, the league will consider accepting 3rd grade players whose parents are willing to serve as head coaches.  Otherwise, third graders are not eligible.

Major League:  This league is for players in 6th and 7th grades only.  If there are not enough coaches among the parents of 6th and 7th graders, the league will consider accepting 5th grade players whose parents are willing to serve as head coaches.  Otherwise, fifth graders are not eligible.

Junior Pony League:  This league is for players in 8th and 9th grades only.  If there are not enough coaches among the parents of 8th and 9th graders, the league will consider accepting 7th grade players whose parents are willing to serve as head coaches.  Otherwise, seventh graders are not eligible. Furthermore, this league will need 36 players to field three teams.  If there are not 36 players by August 15th, refunds will be issued.

Ed Hafner is the Director of Recreation Baseball and will oversee the four leagues.

Registration is done online and will begin July 1st and continue through July 31st.

Coach sign-ups will occur online July 1st through July 31st.  Without coaches there will be no leagues.

If there are not enough coaches in any one league, a lottery will be held to determine which players who signed up before July 31st will be accepted.  Coaches' children are exempt from the lottery.  After July 31st, any sign-ups, including those not accepted in the lottery process, will be held until there enough players and coaches to form additional teams.

Player draft will be conducted the second Sunday in August.

The season will begin the third Monday in August.  Season scheduled to end September 30th.  The end of September and the first week of October will be used to make ups rained out games.  Rainouts will be rescheduled as they occur, so teams know immediately about season ending/extending games.

Games will be played primarily at Avery Park, two games per week on Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays.  No games on Friday, Saturday, or Sunday.

Practices are at the discretion of the coaches and will be held at elementary schools.

The game season is 8 regular season games for the Rookie League and 10 regular season games for the Minor, Major, and Junior Pony Leagues.  No standings, no tournament, no trophies.  Just play baseball.

Players will be provided two shirts, one gray when visiting team, one white when home team.  Players provide their own hats.

Equipment will be provided to the team's coach.

Paid youth umpires will be assigned to work games.

Concession stand at the north end of Avery Park will be open with proceeds helping to offset program costs.
