Youth Basketball Officials

DYA's youth officials program is for boys or girls in 7th through 12th grades.  There are four levels of referee, based on experience and attendance at training clinics.   These are paid positions with referees earning up to $12 per game plus bonus.  In general Class 1 referees work third and fourth grade league games.  Class 2 referees work fourth and fifth grade games.  Class 3 referees work fifth and sixth grade games.   Senior Youth Officials work grades three through six and are the officials in charge.  As the official in charge, the Senior Youth Official also earns a fee for submitting weekly reports about games worked.

**Referees must attend clinics the following year to be eligible for promotion in classification and pay, regardless of experience.  Referees may be promoted a maximum of one class in a 12-month period.

Clinics are conducted by certified Ohio high school basketball officials.
